  • UFS Energy Absorber is made up of 44mm and 35mm wide webbing and is shrink wrapped. It reduces the impact of fall to less than 6kN, and conform to EN 355:2002.
  • The Energy Absorber opens up to an additional length of about 120cm, and hence the worker should always make sure that there is enough safe clear distance below his area of work.
  • UFS recommends a safe clear distance of 6m for a 2m Energy Absorbing Lanyard.

The Energy Absorber consists of a special white inner polyamide core which absorbs the arresting forces in the event of a fall. The coloured webbing serves as a back up. The transparent protective covering aids in visual.

How does the energy absorber work

In the event of a fall the special webbing inside the Energy Absorber opens up. This opening of the webbing takes up most of the jerk which is felt as an impact when a fall occurs. Hence finally very little is felt on the body of the worker.
We can therefore imagine that if this Energy Absorber is absent from a fall protection system, the forces which are felt on the body of the worker can be very high and result in injury.
The UFS energy absorber is designed to be incorporated in a fall arrest or force restraint system. The special inner polyamide tear webbing absorbs the arresting force in the event of a fall while the red colour webbing recovers as a backup. The energy absorber is covered with a clear transparent protective sleeve.
When a fall occurs, the sudden stop caused by the fall arrest system submits the human body to a high impact force (as higher the free fall distance, higher the force)
The purpose of the energy absorber is to reduce the impact force experienced in a fall by dissipating the kinetic energy and controlling deceleration. The Energy Absorbing system is made of 44mm & 35mm wide specially woven webbing that elongates through tearing on its weave and stitching.
